Thanks for the warm welcome all. I haven't fished Crappie since the 1960's. I've caught quite a few by accident though. Between 1972 and 2002 I was a full time catfish fisherman and used hoop nets. We weren't allowed to keep any crappie and really didn't mind. Most of the time it was all catfish.

I wasn't using my boat over the years so I decided to let it go last year. I was so sad at not being able to get on the water I got a kayak. Since I'm at the PC all day with my work I figure it would give me much needed exorcise. It's a fishing kayak and I'm getting gear together to get back on the bayous and this time for fun only. I know the water from Lake Charles to Morgan City pretty well and some areas like my Mother's face.

I'm really pumped to find this great source since my knowledge is way behind the times and I don't have forever to run up the learning curve. It's great that the forum is family friendly and seems real civil.

Thanks! I grew up in Knoxville and graduated from UT. I have family from Gatlinburg to Memphis, but Louisiana is home since 1972.

Thanks! My dad was from Meridian. He told my Mom right before he died that I would "never be a fisherman". She didn't tell me that until just a few years ago. I was around 9 when he died suddenly. He knows better now.
