Im in southern Tennessee and we shoot docks in the winter and summer. In the winter I try to find docks in deeper water about 30 to 50' deep.If you can get a sunny day you can catch them under the docks and especially under pontoon boats.During the summer I have to figure out if the fish are deep or shallow so I start under the more shallow docks and work my way to the deeper docks.Shade is your friend.

Dock shooting is a lot of fun. You will lose a lot of jigs and use a lot of plastic. But pulling a 2#er out is the best. I am in North Alabama we shoot docks in the spring and late fall and winter. We like docks with 8 to 10 ft of water under them. I use 6# line 1/32 jigs Bobby Garland baby shad plastic. The 1/32 skips on the water better than a heavier jig. Most of the time the fish are as far back as you can shoot. Good luck Cub48
thanks cub48....am having fun learing it, am gonna give it a whirl in the erie bays this year

Its addictive....trust me! Docks are about like folks you meet...each one is different! So dont limit yourself when fishing them! Docks slow way down in dead of winter, but there are a few that will produce.
An ungrateful man is like hog under a tree eating acorns, but never looking up to see where they come from!
