Never heard of it until now. I googled it though. I don't think it's legal here in Jersey.

Flounder Gigging - Pensacola Fishing Forum
I'm from Pensacola, FL and used to flounder gig quite a bit this time of year. My father has already been on several trips so far this fall. Floundering is a ton of fun. I plan on doing some when I go down to visit around Christmas.
Simple Life = Better Life
Use to do that when I lived near Corpus. Had a jon boat rigged with a wood frame in front that had 2 pieces of 105 siding put on in a "V" shape. The siding was cut to it was not so wind and the lap faced the other side and a Coleman lantern fit in that perfect. Had it set up for 2 lanterns and used a shield on the back side or my side to reflect more light down and at the same time keep some of the light out of our eyes.
We had a lot of fun during the fall run.

Used to wade all night around Port Aransas. Just using a coleman lantern with a reflector shield and a gig working water less than knee deep. They are good eating fish..... will give crappie a run for the money! Have to be careful not to step on any rays .

I don't gig flounder because I live in Missouri. However, I do gig a lot of suckers though. Here's my gigging setup on my boat. Two 400w metal halide's being pushed by a Contractor 3500w generator.
