Take it apart and oil everything real good. I always lube a new reel up, even if its fresh out of the box. Take it back if you can't get it straightened out.
got a tournament series spinning reel from gander mtn. it looks identical to the pflueger reel I have except the handle.
trouble is, I got the reel wet last week and after I made a few cast and retrieves, it starts to have a feel like something is rubbing or hits a high spot . sat it down and grabbed the other rig. thought i would let it dry out but it is still doing the same thing only worse. I guess I will try and take it apart and oil things up a bit. you guys ever have a reel do that before?

I bought a couple that had no visible lube on them. They were grumbly til a bit of grease here and there fixed the problem.
Creativity is just intelligence fooling around
I have two pflugers that do that, I use a drop of Davis Maxi Lube It's a synthetic oil and works well
I took the spool off and there were beads of water in several places. took a cotton swab and cleaned everything up and re lubed using some kind of red grease in a small tube I bought for reels, maybe Shimano brand? cant remember. seems to have fixed the problem, at least in my living room test run.
