That's neat Shane. I'm going to copy it to the main forum.
Can you see all the fish around the Spillway? Council Grove Lake with my Lowarnce HDS8 and Structure Scan?

That is soooo cool. I have been drooling over those things for quite a while. I gotta get one!!
That's one more thing on my wish list now. I just need to take classes on how to read it.

IMO, if you can read sonar, side scan is easy as it pretty much paints a real time picture making it easier to read than traditional sonar. There will always be tricks and tips, so if you can get some classes I'd never discourage that, but if you can read sonar I'd not wait for classes if you are ready to take the plunge. Bass Pro Shops usually run some here and there on sonar and they may be including side scan too. After seeing Hummingbird and Lowrance, I went with Lowrance, I think it is more refined, but with Hummingbird you can get a larger screen for less money, a lot less. I also went with the little HDS5 which is hard to read to keep costs in the Hummingbird ball park, but an HDS7, 8, or 10 would sure be better if you can afford it.
