    Default Goontasitc day 8/28

I finally got a few hours to get on the water Saturday morning. With the wind forecast I decided to hit up the goon. Fished from 7-1 after breakfast at green acres and 4 dz minners. Put the boat in the water and saw water temp at 76! Did not start the motor. But just started fishin. First drop..bam! Keeper 10" fish. Second drop small fish. The bite kept up until about 11. I thought it had turned off, but I had gone a ways up the creek. Decided to go back towards the ramp and go towards the lake. Again I found fish and caught my two big fish at 13-14". The rest of my 16 keepers were right at 10-11. Threw back many dinks and did not have a single minner left. Caught all of my fish on laydowns in 1-4' of water. There were shad everywhere in the creek like I have not seen before.

WTG It sure is good to finally get some time on the water and also to actually have a good day at catching.

Jim, there were 6 other boats there but did not see anyone else dippin the laydowns....couple catfishin and saw a couple guys using bobbers casting up to shallow stuff and couple I never saw other than at the ramp. Not sure how they did. Those fish were up in the middle of that stuff....times were I could not set the hook....just pulled the line up with my hand...lots of tic tics before the tug...not a lot of thumps....I did not go far towards the lake...maybe 100 yds from the ramp and then had to leave.... There are a few new big trees in the water too
