Nice report Alex and yes Scott is getting good with that long pole.
I hit the lake around 7:30 this morning. The wind was calm, water was pretty clear and 86, and hardly anyone on the water. The morning was comfortable, but by noon it was hot again.
I started the day by hitting the main lake brush piles (swim beach, Littleton Center, and SE cove at the W Bridge). There was nothing to report. The bite was light and nothing but dinks.
Area 1: After getting skunked for about an hour, I decided to head up lake to fish the trees. Well, I rounded the old Trimble Lake when I spotted Scott (nvrgvup444) fishing in a cove with his dog. I stopped and talked a little and he showed me some of his hot spots in this area. Glad I stopped. We both put some fish in the live well here. The trees in this area were anywhere from 6-14 feet deep and the fish were hanging close to the bottom. Scott couldn't stay long because he had a wedding to go to and I headed off up lake.
Area 2: I fished a lot of the trees in this area. Water was 10-20 feet deep. The fish were on the trees in water no deeper than 15 feet and next to shore. The fish were hanging a couple of feet above the bottom. The shad moved into this area pretty good. I was spotting a lot of bait balls; wish I had my cast net. Well, by the end of the day I put 9 in the live well, all around 10".
I was long-polling it today. And looks liked Rodney's (brushman) long-poll technique rubbed off on Scott, because he was working his ten footer pretty good. Scott was using black/chart jig and I was using blue/chart and orange/chart. Best bite for me was on blue/chart. Fish were in 10-15 feet of water with fishing have way down or deeper. The fish were not active. I had to let the jigs hang for a bit before I would get a bite.
If anyone else made it out today, post a report. I'd like to hear how you did.

I enjoyed reading your report. Looks like you put together a method that put some fish in the boat too. Congrats.
Health nuts are going to feel stupid someday, lying in hospitals dying of nothing.
Good for you Alex, I posted a report, but it was so poor, I put it on the "off topic" forum.
Not that the off topic forum is for "poor reports" just sayin'

I just read over my post. Man, one of these times I'll put out a post without TYPO's!

Great job, going to try in the morning.
Work so I can fish and fish so I can survive work.

If your headed north, look for me. The shad have moved down and the crappie are all over them. The little pigs had bellies full of fish when I caught them today. I'm going to try Area 2 again and maybe venture up north. With the lake a little under pool level, I'm worried about what I'm going to hit.

Going to try the cove across from Platte, if the North wind isn't bad, then go North. Hopefully see you up there.
