Pete, Congrats on the catch.. at least you were able to get out there and catch a few, sounds like you had to work for them and they were well deserved.
Finally got to make a little pahrute in V-Bay this AM. The gauges at Fearman Bayou (Near the old Redfish Point DW&F complex) said the salinity had increased to a whopping 2 ppt - that's twice as good as the 1 ppt it had been for the past month! The tide was in the grass, and there was bait everywhere along the north side of Mud Point - the only spot where the forecast 5 to 10-knot wind that was really 15 allowed me to fish.
But the water was decent - 6 inches of sub-surface visibility. So I began with a spinnerbait - and wasted about 15 minutes. Then, figuring the fish were in the grass, I tried flipping it for another 15 wasted minutes. But I was on the right track and finally rigged up a popping cork with an LSU Baby Bull Minnow and caught four lovely flounders and a nice red by FLIPPING IT into and close alongside the grass.
By the way, if you've never flipped for reds, that's a real hoot!
Going to go back tomorrow with some sweeteners for the jigs - see if that inspires the reds a little better. :D
Pete.

You can't fish with a hung line!
Way to go, Pete -- keep switching tactics till you find out what works!
All fishing, all the time!
