    Smile Patoka Report of 5/12/10

In between thunder storms yesterday,,I caught 25 crappie, 2 bass about 14" long, 6 blue gills, and one 15 in striper all on black 1/8 oz yamamoto 3" tube style gig that also had Red, Blue, Gold, and Silver metal flake in it,,I tried numerous colors, but this worked for all fish,,fishing in 8'-10' water near shores in brush,,I did catch one 13" crappie from edge of bank near a fallen tree, water was clear to stained, temp was 65 to 68 degrees depending where your loacation was at the Lick Fork area. Very overcast, not to much wind in the afternoon. I did see numerous clouds of 1/4 " fry that had just hatched, as the bass and blue gills were tearing into them. Kept the 6 largest crappie all between 11" and 13" and released everything else. Good day to fish as I had the lake almost all to myself.
