Nice fish there! Have you ever caught big redear that have tasted like old muddie catfish? its almost like they were just old fish or something. I caught some a few years back that were odd tasting but I have caught big one since that havent tasted like. anybody else ran into this? well anyway, very nice catch!
I still use one rod at a time!!

I haven't had that problem, they taste like bluegill to me. Although I think the bluegill meat is a little cleaner, they taste the same IMO. I would rather catch a big redear any day of the week though, it really doesn't get much better than hauling a monster in on light tackle.

My uncle did tell me a story that they caught some real big bluegill one time and that they tasted odd. He seems to think they were probably very old fish because this guy doesn't let people fish his lake.
