    Default Bubble Fishing

That's what my wife calls it, when we are out(mostly in the summer) and she see bubbles come to the surface she says those are fish making those bubbles and she will throw her line where the bubbles are and will usually catch something.

I just kind of roll my eyes and she says they are fish making those bubbles, i have done it but to never have caught anything fishing like that.

But i guess to each his/her own it works for her so i guess that's all that matters. Just wondering if anyone else has ever bubble fished.

I've never paid much attention to that....until yesterday. All over spawning structure, you'd see a group of bubbles coming up. I've always seen them here and there, but nothing like what I saw. Is it possible that when a female lays eggs that she has some gas, too? :D

I always thought it was catfish or turtles.

Bubble fishing is one of the keys at Reelfoot for Bluegill. While fishing there you need to always keep an eye out for the small bubbles rising to the top. This is almost always a sign of a Bluegill bed. The key is once you see this is to back off and cast to the area. One year we had an opening in the pads about 10 yards wide were we caught over 100 fish through out the day. Best I can tale it's from them fanning the bottom and the decaying plant matter is putting off the gas.
This is different from the occasional bubble rise you will see from time to time through out the year. Just another case of being "one" with the fish:D

I would say your wife is pretty smart. Because she is right! Watch for the bubbles, they are from the gills, been known for many years. Gills are making their beds usually in deeper water. Cast close by if not right in the bubbles. My grandfather taught me that many years ago.
