Thumbs up I need your help! especially you Veterans

There is an organization that helps disabled Veterans called "Heroes On the Water" (http://www.heroesonthewater.org/). What they do is they take out disabled Veterans kayak fishing.

Currently there is no chapter that exists in the Kansas City metro and I am trying to change that. I have been in contact with the National Director of the program, Jim Dolan, and he has given me some guidelines on where to start!

If any of you would be interested in helping out in any way, please feel free to contact me at your convenience.

With such a large Veteran population in Kansas City (as well as Nebraska and Iowa) we should be able to get some guys together and assist in their rehab!

Just PM me if you would like to help out!

    Thanks

I am bumping this up in case anyone missed it....

If any of you know any active duty military members or Veterans currently in a rehabilitation program due to a service connected disability please PM me. We are still grinding out this program to help our disabled current and former service members get outdoors and enjoy some of the midwest's best waters!

    Thanks

That looks like a heck of a program, Pineapple! Good luck getting a chapter started on the WestSide.

I'm part of an organization that takes vets and wounded active duty personnel waterfowl hunting, and I can tell you its very very rewarding to put a smile on those guys'(and gals') faces.
Teach your kids to hunt and fish and you won't have to hunt for your kids !!

You might talk to The KC Paddler down at Peculiar (check phone book).
He's a kayak dealer and might help you spread this around to kayak owners a bit. Maybe you could talk him into doing a vets outing. He does demos on Peculiar Lake, south of Peculiar.
Worth a shot. You never know til ya ask.
I like things that help vets. :D
I'll smoke just about anything (in my smoker)
The fishing is always great. The catching varies.

Could you post a list of supplies and equipment that you might need. I would be more than happy to donate. You might also look up Namgrunt. I know that he is a vietnam vet and he might know some fellas that would be interested in this program or donating as well. Also being a veteran myself I really appreciate what you are doing.
Opinions are like A-holes, everybody has one and some stink worse than others!
