Not sure about what brand / type DF you have...but some have a "Depth Offset" in the menu system to correct for that difference in the transducer being on the TM...
i went fishing yesterday after installing my new fishfinder on the front of my boat. i fished all day and didn't really think about this until i got home. if you install a transducer on the bottom of your trolling motor the depth it reads should be calculated by adding an extra 2-3 ft to make up for the trolling shafts length. is this true? i'd like to hear you guys comments on it so that i can be more accurate when i'm reading it. thanks
God first,family, fishing!

Yes. You will have to detemine how deep your tansducer sits in the water and modify the depth offset to correct for this. Mine sits in hte water about 16".

good point, never really thought of this, so I have been fishing about 18" under my target. Hummmmmmmm , this could really change things!
SHUTUPANDFISH!!! SORRY IF I OFFENDED ANYONE, NOT MY INTENTION, MUST HAVE BEEN A GATOR OR LONGHORN FAN. ROLL AGAIN TIDE. HOOAH!
No; slider1 your actually 18" above your target. if your d/f reads fish at 6ft they are really 7.5 ft.you wont fish below if you pull off 6ft of line.
I have a depth selector on my fishfinder. Make sure your transducer on your trolling motor is positioned parallel to the water level or you will get skewed depths. and g3 is right if your transducer is a ft under the water and you are seeing fish at 6 they are at 7 from the top of the water.
