How long does the chains need to be? I fish in 15-20 fow. What's the best way to work this method. Thanks
lol i guess have been discussed alot of times
I saw where one of the Old Geezers on this board posted that he uses 2 15' 3/8 chains, but I forgot how much rope he uses. He says he keeps them in a 5 gallon bucket in his boat.
If you just use one your boat is going to want to turn sideways into the wind unless you use the trolling motor to keep yourself turned with the wind to your back... which will speed you up a little more.
Tie one to each of your tiedown loops in the back so you'll stay with the wind to your back... then go down to the Pumphouse in Tenn. and drag them over some Coffee Can Condos!:p
Here's a link to buy a 3/8 log chain for $25
Buffalo Tools Log Chain In Box America's Farm & Home Store
This is for people who like to catch a fish and then destroy the structure where the people behind them won't catch any.
Here's a link to a drift sock for 20 bucks.
30" Drift Anchor Sea Sock - eBay (item 170422249327 end time Mar-19-10 16:05:09 PDT)
This is for people who drift over a spot and catch a few then like to turn around and drift over the same spot and try to catch another one.
Both of these work really well. The chain has a nice box to carry it around in. The drift sock will fold up and store easily also.
Good luck, hope things work out well for you.

If someones structure wasn't strong enough to stand up to a little ol' 3/8 chain... it wasn't worth putting out anyway!
arkdrakehunter do a search for chains or pullin chains should be plenty of reading for you. A lot of folks here are not too impressed with chain pullers because lots of chain pullers just drag them chains everywhere--like thru structure, brushpiles, PVC condos, and the like just tearing up a lot of folks hard work and lots of fishes new homes. Can't say as I blame them either. No I don't pull chains but I do drag drift socks @ times. Each to your own:rolleyes:
