It there one melting pot that will work for melting both lead and plastics?

nightprowler, thanks for asking this question, I am wanting to buy some equipment and was going to ask the same question so that I do not have to buy a bunch of seperate things, my luck is probably not a good answer, but maybe someone can give us some good news

I agree! Lead melts at about 600*F, while plastic becomes pourable at about 350*F.

I haven't poured any plastic yet, but I'm looking into it!

The Lee company makes a bottom pour melter for just plastics, I have no idea how good it is so someone else would have to chime in or you can also check on Welcome to Tackleunderground.com there they talke about a Presto pot.

presto pots are good for large quantities of plastic. 4 cups or more. If your adding salt or glitter to your plastic then you need to add a stirring system as well. These can be bought for about 250.00 and that includes a spout on the bottom of the pot to do your pouring from but it one work on injecting baits as most smaller crappie baits will need to be done

DO NOT TRY TO USE A LEAD POT FOR PLASTISOL.
WILL BURN AND PUTS OFF A TOXIC GAS ... BEWARE !!!!

Lee makes a pot for plastisol ... still need to cook the plastic in a micro wave first and use the pot for pouring ... Real great when you you need to pour a thin stream.

Bears, TU, Lure Craft, & DelMart have some great information on this and I would suggest that you research it before making your decision.

yes lots of info on that site. I am working with Ed to Get us a soft plastic forum on crappie.com so we can have all the info right here. Safety is a HUGE part of playing with HOT plastic and its not something you should just dive in to. There are alot on this site that pour and inject plastic so it would only make since for crappie.com to have a forum for us to share this info.
