If you go out, good luck be careful and stay warm!
Kaz called me this am about 7 and said as he went across 13 hwy looking both ways the upper grand had hard water, don't know how thick but think it would be gone by this afternoon with the warming temp and this weekend should be okay..... those area's are exposed to quick freezing with the cold winds.... just a heads up...... just a tad cool for me this am, may try tomorrow.....

We went to Sparrowfoot this AM to put in, lake was iced over with what looked like about 1/4 inch. Duck hunters had been out and with a big aluminum boat they were breaking through. A thin sheet had already iced back over their trail within about an hour......we turned back and started the coffee. Bring your skates and a ice pic!
Nothing worse then making the trip from up here and not being able to get in. Mark, don't know if you've ever done it, but, you can walk back in there and most times it won't be frozen over. I've done it a couple times in the last couple years, but usually drive the car down if I know that's what I'm going to do. I'd guess the walk at 3/4 of a mile or so. OSS may have the exact distance. With a limit of fish in your hand, that walk seems like a couple miles. :D
is excatly one mile........ 1/2 in 1/2 out but carry 25 # of white bass and you will be pooped.......

Thanks..I couldnt stand it anymore this afternoon and figured out how to get in there, don't know why they wont let you drive in, saw some crappie being caught but none for me, I probably caught 35 white bass and threw em all back...I didnt catch any poles but it was still fun and the weather was nice this afternoon
Glad you at least got in there and fished a bit. I usually am good for hooking into a shad or 2 before I catch anything else. Hope to break that trend this year.
OSS, I thought of you today as I saw these guys with 2 wheel dollies they had modifed with rod holders, bucket racks and a place for their boxes....looked like it made it much easier for them to pack their stuff in and out, but I doubt you would have liked it..they built them without using any diamond plate!...lol
I don't remember it freezing up this early in the last 3 or 4 years. Hope this isn't a trend for the rest of the winter.
