Are you sure they are Catfish ? Here Blues and Channels cats hit liver.
Hi guys, crappie fisherman here, but the other day while crappie fishing on the river I found a deep hole at the mouth of a creek. The depth finder showed many fish so the next day I got some chicken livers and tried it out. After about an hour I had no bites but noticed blue cats rolling on the top. I was wondering that if you think channel cats could be in that hole with the blues or do they not hang together? I think I will go back tomorrow with some shiners. Thanks for any input. Troy

not really positive that it was cats on the sonar. i just assumed it might be because i have heard a lot of people say that it is a good hole to catch cats. the blues rolling the water looked to be in the 15 lb range. will the bigger blues hit liver? i have an aquaview cam so i reckon i will have to go back and see exactly what is down there. if i find out i will let you know. have a good day. troy
If the cats are 15# and bigger I would suggest using fresh cut bait (shad) The bigger cats don't hit livers as quickly as they will hit the cutbait.
I agree with Stonewall... the cut shad will do a lot better than the liver.
