might want to check with Rango on the South Carolina board, i think he keeps one year round.......there have been many discussions on this subject, you could do a search also
Ive got an old chest type freezer that doesnt work anymore and i was thinking about how to convert it to a minnow vat. Im looking for input or ideas on the best way to go about this. I will be using city water so what type of water filters do i need and how much aeration is necessary, also how often to change the water and filter out the amonia. Im clueless but interested.
Stick yo jig in there!

I can only wish to be as good as my dog thinks I am
I have had one going now for about a year, 13 cubic foot, works good, I change out the water about every 2 weeks, I got a aerator from wallmart that was for an aquarium. and made my filter system from a pump that was for fountains and pumped the water through a filter I made. Got poly fill and some charcoal in it.
I have seen old freezers used as tanks. Air is a factor of how warm the water is and how much bait you store there. Change the water as often as needed when the amonias build up. Using city water is not a problem as long as you treat it for the clorine, etc. Here is a link that will help -- Anderson Minnow Farm-live bait farm nationwide delivery

The Better Bait product here will do the job - Aquaculture Chemicals - keep the water cool and well oxygenated and you'll be able to keep lots of bait for a long time.
You can search that website for alot of products that will help, like air pumps, diffuser stones, etc.
