I'll be living about 10 miles from Smithville lake . I'm looking forward to fishing the lake and other lakes in the KC area . I'll be moving in December . Do the backwaters freeze up in the winter?
well may I wish you a welcome to the great state of MISSOURI we dont have big ole slabs like MISSISSIPPI but we got a few, if you fish stockton I can help, if you fish truman, and you should there is plenty of help there also, luck to you on the new job.
Welcome to the state of MO. I am no help with Smithville but head south a few hours and we will give you all the help we can on Truman.
Most of the winter you can get on Smithville and Truman. For Smithville there's only one place I fish in the winter, shady lake cove. I'll send you a google earth shot of it, easy to find, always boats in there and always giant bait balls in winter. It's usually pretty good all winter from my experience.
Plenty of guys on here fish it. They'll be able to help a bunch.
Welcome to KC.
Alex (KC Area, Smithville Lake)
welcome to Missouri TnRidge. Truman is a great lake & when you get ready to fish it, we'll be more than happy to help anyway we can.:D
Thanks for the welcome . I look forward to the fishing and hunting in Mo.
I'm originally from Mi. ,so I'm no stranger to ice fishing for crappie ,gills and walleye , just as long as there is safe ice .
Welcome from the Northlands of Kansas City. I haven't been on the water much this year, but when I do, It's on Smithville. Three of the guys who just said "Hello" (Champ, apkape, and Duncan) know their way around the lake. You've probably seen Alex's (apkape) maps.
Cook knows where to catch crappie and cats from shore.
We'll probably have another Thursday night get together for Beer and Burgers (or maybe BBQ) in the next month or so. Stay tuned. Mark
