Creativity is just intelligence fooling around
They sell a self etching primer in a spray can at AutoZone. It works really well and makes the paint stick really good. They also sell it at BPS and Cabelas but it comes by the quart there and not in a spray can.
I painted a john boat a few years backs with a self etching automotive primer made by NAPA. It is OD green already. I sprayed 2 coats on it and its still holding. You will have to thin it and run it thru a sprayer.
.
Use a Zinc Chromate primer and then paint it.
all good info but auto zone no longer carry it. napa only has in quart can no spray?? Have to check BPS
I saw it here(Memphis) last night at AutoZone. Mabey they could order it for you.
said that they no longer carry not enough call for it in st louis maybe I'll try other location thanks
I had an alum. boat I stripped down to shiny and got some paint in the quarts at NAPA that was Rust Tuff made by Krylon. It is a oil based enamal. It did not need self etching primer to be put on under it and it went straight from the can to the boat with a very good soft brush and turned out great and lasted the two years I had it until I sold it but I'm sure it is probably fine.
Ya I Don't Want To Paint The Outside Of The Boat Just The Inside As The Glare Will Roast You In The Sun So I Would Any Good Paint Such As Rustolum In Marine Grade Should Do A Decent Job . What You Think??????
