    lived in prattville 6 years jig heads tiped with minnows is what seemed to be best 9 out of 10 swift creek is a great ramp and the fish are thick from there to selma that river is narrow and easy to fish in that area

    I agree with Riverrat. Although I catch many good sized crappie near Millbrook, AL it's because I've fished it for several years and am familiar with it. To get on some nice crappie quickly it is hard to beat the Swift Creek area.

    Thanks To Both Of You. Some How I Missed Yalls Responses. When It The Best Time Of Year To Fish The Alabama River? I Would Like To Come Over One Weekend And Give It A Shot. I Saw Some Nice Crappie That Came Out Of There And Want To Try It. What Is The Best Technique?

    Well, the best time would be in the spring. However, I would fish Swift Creek on any day ending in a "y". In fact, my brother-in-law and I are going this Tuesday. As to technique, I believe you will have good luck fishing brush piles/treetops in 9 to 12 feet of water, vertical fishing with minnows, or jigs tipped with minnow. COME ON DOWN AND GOOD LUCK!
