We catch them together in the winter time. Here are a few pictures of some that were caught in Dec, Jan, and Feb, all on jigs.

I've even caught big bream while bass fishing. Was fishing a tournament on the TN river one time and was catching bream on a 7.5 inch culprit worm. Didn't win the tournament. Wish they had let me count those bream lol

Arrow more often than not ....

I'll catch other species of fish, while Crappie fishing ... but, generally it won't be a big Bluegill or Shellcracker. I have caught Smallmouth up to 4lbs, a Rainbow Trout, Channel Cats & Flatheads, Hybrid Stripers, White Bass & Yellow Bass, a Tiger Muskie (12lbs), Drum, Warmouth, Yellow Perch, Herring Shad, and various others. Most of the lakes I fish just don't seem to grow Bluegill & Shellcracker, to any size ... or else I've just never run into them ...LOL!! ............. cp

    Hi Rango

Almost, they came out of the upper Santee swamp. About 10-12 miles up the river from Low Falls. You can go through the swamp and come out at Sparkleberry Landing if you know how. I've never done it..

Those are just a few pictures of my normal Nov. to March fishing in the swamp. With Dec and Jan usually being the better months "IF" we don't have a rainy winter.

I just noticed in the paper today that the water is about 4 feet below normal and 6 feet below the flood stage,[banks]. It might be hard to get into the swamp now, but I'm going to see if I can break away in a few days and go to just check it out.
