Default 4’10” Major Craft Finetail Glass

My new rod arrived yesterday around noon . About four days earlier than the delivery estimate. I’m not complaining .
I mounted up a Shimano Soare XR 500spg spooled up with Daiwa Island Blue J-braid X8 , with a 3# Floroclear leader .
I headed out for Lake McIntosh and got there just before eleven.
Partly cloudy skies , mid 70’s but windy again . 8-16 mph .
I had tied on a 1/64 Wapsi lead jighead with a size 8 hook and a shortened Trout Magnet .
Thirty minutes without a fish , but I could detect short strikes , told me there were small gills but my hook was too big .
I switched to one of my tungsten jigheads made with a size 12 streamer hook and added a Mr Twister Lil Bit 1” black curlytail.
In less than five minutes I had my first fish on the MC Finetail Glass .
Even though the rod is made of a type of fiberglass, it still seemed pretty sensitive using the Daiwa braid .
I didn’t have any problems feeling the light bites of these little gills .
In the next hour I caught eight that I got to hand including a juvenile shellcracker .
Hopefully in three or four years it’ll be a nice trophy .
I like the rod , it’s a fun rod that casts my tungsten jigs and has a nice bend even with the little gills .
I really like the short butt , it allows the rod to fish a few inches longer .
    Looks sharp too .
I have one of my short trips coming up tomorrow at a different lake , I’ll be taking it tomorrow too.
Bank fishing on a Monday after a nice spring weekend , at a popular lake, can make for some tough fishing conditions, but I expected that .
Nice just being out there .

That’s a nice looking rig. I have a 5’ Phenix with an ice rod handle/seat. I wondered if I would warm up to all that going on when I first bought it. Turns out it’s one of the most fun rods I have. I believe this new one of yours will be about the same. Once this wind lays down and you get a few good fish on it I think you’ll be sold on it. Enjoy the new toy.
