Congrats on the new rod! I sometimes think I would have been better off just to take up doing drugs lol. It would be a huge savings and the wait to get the product wouldn't be nearly as long

Congrats on the new stick. I’m waiting for my latest toy myself. I played with my 5’ Phenix UL today and the 9”+ gills gave it a good fight. You’ll have fun with it, I’m sure.

    Thanks Tim
I’m still searching for that perfect little rod that’ll be fun with the little guys I enjoy catching, that'll still handle the occasional green fish that grabs my jig .

The Major Craft 4’10 Finetail Glass arrived around noon today .
I was worried when I saw the shipping box looked a little roughed up .
Just a square cardboard tube . Looked like it’d been bent a few times during shipping.
Inside the rod was in a heavy cloth travel case with a small amount of paper shoved into the box in an attempt at packing .
Luckily, the rod seems to be ok .
I first mounted a 500 Shimano Sienna on it with grey braid to match , but decided it deserved a Shimano Soare XR 500spg with blue braid .
Rod feels a little stiff for an UL , especially a fiberglass UL .
When I threaded the guides up and did a bend test , I no longer worried about it being too stiff for the gills I chase .
I know y’all want a picture, but inside pics don’t do it for me .
I prefer a pic with its first taste of gill slime .
Hopefully I can accomplish that tomorrow.

Edit : for those wondering, today was four days sooner than its predicted delivery date.
That means , the Mountain Stream rod should be here by Thursday next week.

I had the same feeling when my Lunakia arrived last week. Packaging was pretty much how you described. I much prefer the way Digitaka, JDM tackle heaven ship the rod inside a piece of PVC pipe.
