Getting that first slimming on a new rod is a special trip ! Congrats !
Got out yesterday with the new rod. We've had lots of rain and fronts coming through Ohio. Nice and sunny on Saturday but gusty winds. Managed to catch a mixed bag of 24.i fished the Gekkabijin with a daiwa luvias 2000s and 2lb mono. Also too the majorcraft aji do 5G with a daiwa presso 1000s with 2lb mono. The Gekkabijin has to be one of the most sensitive rods I've ever fished. Definitely a good choice.

Very nice! Which rod do you like better? I've thought about purchasing the AjiDo but never committed.
They're very different rods. The Gekkabijin is very stiff and extremely sensitive. After fishing them side by side I can't say that I'd pick one over the other. They both are super light rods but the aji do feels like a feather in your hand. For slack line hook sets the Gekkabijin gets the nod because of the sensitivity and the aji do is better at swimming a bait. On a tough day when the bites are light the Gekkabijin would be the better bet. I've been lucky enough to fish several high end rods and the Gekkabijin is the most sensitive rod I've ever used.

Glad you enjoy the new stick. I’ve been paying attention about which rods might suit me but nothing jumps out at me yet. Thanks for the review.
