Thread: Tfo trout/panfish rods

I have a 6’ and a 6’6” UL .
I’m using Daiwa j-braid x8 on them but just started recently.
I’d owned the rods for awhile but they just never got fished much until now .
I was impressed with both rods .
I’ll let you know if I have any issues .

Just an unrelated opinion. Most guides these days are pretty good in the rods considered a little better than average. Add to that the fact we’re in UL strength so it’s not like bigger rods, line and fish with heavier drag used. I build rods and save guides from old and found rods I’m case someone needs a repair and doesn’t have time or funds for a new part. The only bad guides I’ve found have had a chalky appearance and been very sun exposed for a long time. Hope this helps some.

I see, I plan on using this rod in saltwater for these fish.

It's been years since I've seen or heard of rod guides that groove with braid. And certainly not at the price point of TFO Trout-Panfish series.

I see, thanks for all the replies, now all I gotta worry about is the guides holding up to saltwater, lets hope they are quality stainless steel guides

Thank you they are called opaleye, their eyes are blue and look awesome, theres a few other saltwater panfish here but these are my favorite to catch because of how hard they pull.

I used to take an UL when I would visit the coast inshore fishing for seatrout.
I caught what is called grunts around the coastal area . They’re like saltwater bluegills .
Small , but fun on an UL .
