Default I think I have made a mistake

I posted yesterday that I was wondering how the tracking worked with EMS as I was waiting on a new rod and there had been no updates to the tracking. To keep my mind off of it I started some boat maintenance this morning. I heard gravel stir and looked up and here comes the mail man up the driveway. He stepped out of his car with a carboard tube in his hand.

I am the proud owner of a Majorcraft Aji-Do 1G 6'2" Light action. If I could have held this rod before making the purchase I would have bought 10 of them. I can't believe I have a rod like this, which feels exactly like I was hoping it would, for less than $120 U.S.. It is just unreal how light and well fit this thing is, and how well it is made, and I feel like in the JDM world I have a bargain rod lol. Alphahawk is correct. I can't see myself purchasing commercially available rods here anymore. I do make my own rods as well, but at my skill level there is no way I could reproduce this rod for 3 times the money. Y'all ignore the ratty carpet in my boat lol, and the fact that the handle looks tiny in my pork chop paw, it is actually quite nice and a good fit to my hand.

Which reel do you guys like on it? I think the Ultegra is more asthetically pleasing, but the Vanford is quite a bit lighter.

Go with the lighter, smoother Vanford unless you prefer the balance of the Ultegra. Let your new rod shine!

I’d fish them both then let that tell you which you prefer. Both look great on that shiny new rod. Congrats

    I’d go with the Vanford.

I will say, it does balance a bit better with the Ultegra, and I bought them at the same time to be a combo, but for kicks I put the Vanford on and it seemed to be a fantastic fit as well. I may buy another one a bit longer for the Ultegra.

Glad you're happy with the new rod. For the price it can't be beat.

Welcome to the rabbit hole of JDM rods. It's amazing how good a new rod can feel in your hand. Just wait till you get to experience just how sensitive the rod is.
