Hi Folks! How has your experience been with Japan Post? I’ve never had a package sent through them before - only FedEx, and once DHL. Is their tracking system accurate? How long does it take to deliver to the US East Coast?

Had ordered a reel from Plat but don’t see any movement since it departed from Osaka late last week. Was hoping to fish with it this week since I’m on vacation. Guess I’ll keep my fingers crossed and hope for the best.

Some of the fishing stuff I've ordered from Amazon is shipped from Japan. Usually takes 10 to 14 days, which seems like an eternity when waiting. Not sure if it is shipped by Japan Post though. most of the time the tracking info says ECMS Express.

Thanks both! Yes, sure feels like eternity while waiting. I think it’s coming through Japan Post.
On a side note the Plat Xmas sales had a significant markdown. I ordered a Daiwa Silver Creak Air Stream Custom for 40% off. First experience with them.

My experiences ordering from overseas .
I’ve only gotten express service from Digitaka . And Hedgehog Studios. Both used FedEx , but Hedgehog charged $25 shipping.
But I got items in less than a week .
With Digitaka I’ve gotten reels in about four days .
Everything else , including Amazon Japan has taken several weeks , sometimes almost two months .
That’s once it actually gets shipped.

Couple of weeks! Oh my! Plat allows the customer to choose the shipper. I should’ve gone with FedEx but wanted to take advantage of the free shipping :-(

I’ve only ordered a couple of things from Japan and I’m impatient when I’m waiting. I don’t think I’ve waited more than a couple of weeks for anything I’ve ordered, and no horror stories.
