MD, I’ve looked at those Falcons and they’re pretty nice for the money, lightweight too. I’ll bet he was fun!

I think they are fantastic rods especially for $49. If you watch midwayusa they have random sales and I picked up 1 of the 4 I have for $40.75 shipped. Crazy good deal IMHO.

Well, it wasn’t a knockout day but I got a few and the weather was nice, albeit a bit windy. First fish was a small trout about 16” on topwater. Anything on topwater makes me happy. Cut him loose and kept working the area, about 2 1/2’, And just never did see any bait to speak of. Made a cast as long as I could, twitched just a few times and the splash and the line came tight. This one was better and started doing laps around the boat. The mullet looking v bottom bait was working well. Got him unhooked and set him over the side to recover. In just a minute he thrashed and was gone. Right at 20” and fat.then I began grinding my way along without much going on. Finally did get another about 18” and the fish just shut down after that. I threw my light rod which got me one bump and nothing else. Hit the ramp about 11:30 with a smile. Sure beat sitting at the house watching it rain like last weekend. Thanks for following along. If get lucky in the future y’all will hear about it. Merry Christmas , please be safe when you travel.

This is interesting. When I was a kid we didn't have any UL reels but I did have a Mitchell 300 and about 7' rod. Spooled it with 4# test line and we'd fish for snapper's in Long Island sound with it. Worked great. Be cool to get back there and try an UL on then!
