    Default Shimano 500 spool compatibility

I’d like to have a deeper spool for either my Soare BB 500spg or my Soare XR 500spg.
I was looking at the Vanford 500 spool and was wondering if it would work on either of my reels .
    Why you ask ?
In the fall and winter I sometimes hook into a nice size spotted bass or a hybrid striped bass .
Fishing from shore I think I might need the extra line when using 2# line .
I caught a decent size hybrid last year while using a Daiwa Fuego that even with backing , I had a couple hundred yards of 2# line on it .
If I’d been using one of my 500 JDM Shimano reels , I think it would have spooled me .
I’m not even sure my Daiwa Presso LT 1000 would hold enough line .
Fishing from a boat , I wouldn’t worry , I could chase one with the trolling motor .
From the shore , I have to loosen the drag and let the rod wear it down .

Just checked and the Shimano Soare BB 500spg and the Soare XR 500spg will NOT swap .
The XR has a ball bearing under the spool , the BB does not .
So , the question is , does the Vanford 500 have a ball bearing under the spool ?

I think I found a deeper spool for my Shimano Soare BB !
The spool off my Shimano Sahara 500fj and Nasci 500 seem to fit the BB .
A little more playing around before I take it fishing to make sure the line lay is the same , but it’s looking good so far .

Shimano made life difficult when it comes to spare spools for its reels, Gill. Their "purpose-made" reels come with plethora of configuration like deep, shallow, long, and short strokes. Not to mention higher end spool comes with bearing. I have 3 shimano: TwinPower, Ultegra, and a '14 Stella...all NOT interchangeable. Lucky me a discontinued '16 Stradic ci4+ spare spool was exactly speched as the '14 Stella and was had for very decent price. Hope you'll find one soon!

I’m wishing the same as LV. I considered extra spools til I saw the prices. Hope you find what you’re after for a fair price.

I fished the Soare BB 500spg with the Sahara 500fj spool on it this morning. Everything worked like it should .
Then I swapped the spools back when I got home and this afternoon just took the Sahara 500fj .
Not much difference between the two reel’s except the handles , and I think I like the Sahara handle a little more.
Guess I’ll just use the Sahara when there’s a chance I might hook into a fish that might spool me with the Soare .

I fished one of my Shimano Soare XR 500spg reels today . Loaded with Varivas braid , which is some pretty thin braided line .
I put a float on and made a long cast . As I flipped the bail , I noticed I could see spool .
I had almost spooled myself casting .
And it really didn’t go that far .
I put my float between boards of a picnic table to hold one end and unspooled the line , then walked off the distance . Thirty five stretched out steps . At most 100-110 feet . For me that’s just not enough . Maybe for a small stream .
My Soare BB 500 have the same spool capacity.
And I haven’t been happy with my 500 size Sahara and Nasci reels with them binding with use . I think their issue is gear ratio 5.6/1 just too fast for a small reel .
It’s a know fact lower ratio reels are low inertia reels .
So I took spool and handle off a Nasci 500 , and put it on a Soare 500 BB reel . Made a smooth winding, higher line capacity reel .
I put together a reel Shimano offer .
If I get to try it out tomorrow morning I’ll post a picture.
