Boundaries are meant to be discovered and at time, challenged...lol. Me I just want to savage what parts still usable and see if I can have a little crack at this BFS stuff chasing panfish. Thanks gentleman for chiming in!

Very interesting use of pieces that might otherwise be trashed. I am a fan of shorter UL rods but the shortest I have is 4' 6".

My 4 pc JDM travel rod is 4'6", Bill. It's very hard to explain, but simply put in term of fun factor, reeling in a decent size fish on a shortest of rod for me comes very close to handline fishing. I've done several times growing up. The experience is very direct. Maybe that's why there are many ice fishing fanatics out there. Lol.

A few more pictures for comparison. The rod next to it is a Daiwa Nature X 4 foot xul...Name: 20230906_114524.jpg

Sounds like those rods are getting it done.

With its lure max rating of just 2.5g, using it with a baitcaster should give new meaning to the words Finesse UL, considering purpose built BFS rod lure weight can go to 7g. At just 3-6" I'm looking to achieve a good Bend-per-$$ when catching the littles...lol.

Went this morning for a few dozen casts with this 3'6" super ultralight rod savaged together out of 2 broken Abu rods. With its 2.5g max I casted a 3g JDM trout lure to no more than 30 to 40 feet, good enough for me, with such delicate tip section. Only managed 2 catches in 20 minutes before being rained out....Name: 20230910_114209.jpg

Nice. I’d be extra careful with that rod if no more parts to fix…..lol.

Yes, SuperDave. It's a special, but fun rod best reserve for small panfish and occasional microfishing out if I get the chance.
