    Default Curiosities kill the panfish!

When it comes to how one angler can go about catching fish, there seems to be as many ways as there are different types of fishing equipment. Just FYI folks, this post is meant for entertainment read and NOT as an argument for which technique is better than which to catch panfish.
About a decade ago microfishing concept had earned quite an acknowledgement the world over, because of the Tanago fishing popularity. About same time a type artificial lures surfaced in Japan for the all-lure purists in Japan called HAZEKURA mainly designed for anglers predominantly catching brackish water gobies inhabit Tokyo canal waterways. These hard topwater lures is said to entice fish because of its flashy color, small or large, into biting out of curiosity. For me I believe more in its concept of application rather. Tying small hook to a large lure normally too large for gobies, the angler can then get his hookset. So what a panfish angler to do when he sees a good idea that should not be discarded without trying out? The video of said fishing story can be found under: "Fishing Crazy Japan"- on YouTube. And here's a few picture of my setup to test concept, even if it meant catching little curiosities. Enjoy!Name: 20230816_143254.jpg

    Interesting !
I don’t know how many times when fishing a small styrofoam bobber , I’ve had bream bite at the bobber .
I have several UL topwater lures . I may be trying something like this .
    Looks like fun !

    H. Hillary spared a window of about 2 hours this afternoon from the rain and I went out again with a different setup to see if said Hazekura float crank rig productive enough to be in my little staple of artificial lures....it was! Caught 18 total with 3 gills hitting the micro crank like I owe them money..lol. Here's couple more pictures!Name: 20230820_174945.jpg

Yes, Skeet I think it will be worth your time to give this rig a try and see. Just remember in bigger water you might have a bass inadvertently chomp down on your micro like it happened to Gillchaser, just saying.
As with the reel on both my 4pc travel and a Ares Blue Porter, it's a '20 Shimano twin power c2000s. After I got the '14 Stella for a few coins more, I thought I won't need it. But now I love how it looks on both rods so probably won't be listing it on the auction block any time soon...lol.

It is amazing what those real little guys will take on. I guess that’s how they become big guys.

A very interesting concept. I liked that the young angler, when asked whether bait is better or lure for goby, did not bat an eyelid and immediately said bait.

It’s also interesting to see their initiative to preserve their history and culture.

Ketch, this concept was probably been observed quite a while back, not that I've ever come across on. However in the FCJ video the whole lure was designed, shape, color and all (a marketing foy) to enhance this type of fishing for the gobies. Not that the lure isn't cool looking, but I'm cheap...lol. Besides Strike King lures came in plethora of colors.
