Default Soare XR VS Presso LT

I took my Shimano Soare c2000sspg and Daiwa 21 LT 1000s-p , both paired up with a 5’ St Croix Avid ULF . Both spooled with Daiwa J Braid x8 Grand braid .
Both were rigged up the same with .4g micro spinners, 4# Floroclear leader and a small swivel about 10” above the spinner .
I noticed very little difference in the way and the distance they both cast .
Both were super smooth on the retrieve , with a very slight edge to the Soare XR , possibly due to it being its second trip .
The only difference I see between using the two reels is the Soare XR bail makes a springy noise and a click when opening and the Presso is almost silent . Not a deal breaker for me , but there is a difference.
Both are great little reels with awesome drags .
If I were to buy another ?
I’d buy another Shimano Soare XR c2000sspg . Because the Presso are $60 to over a $100 more than the Soare . And I think both are quality ultralight reels .
I would like to try both with 2# Floroclear and will in the near future .
When using Braid I find I don’t leave the drag as loose as I do with the 2# .
Now back to the fishing trip .
After a short time at Lake McIntosh , I headed back to the Old Mill Creek.
With the super low water I wasn’t expecting any monsters , but was hoping for numbers .
I caught seventeen total , mostly redbreast and small bluegills , but also caught two spotted sunfish and a fun size shellcracker, that came on my last cast .
    I love creek fishing .
Up near the dam , I did hook something that knocked the heck out of the micro spinner , ripped off about ten feet of drag and then came unhooked . I’m thinking most likely a shellcracker.
I did see a gar about 20” or so , I tried to use my polarized sunglasses as a filter to take a picture of , but it didn’t turn out .

These are the two spotted sunfish I caught today .
These are number four and five that I’ve caught totally.
I was surprised to catch two on the same day .
All of my spotted sunfish have come from this creek .

Good report on the new reels. Those redbreast sure have some nice colors and catching those spotted sunfish has to be satisfying when you don't run into them that often.

That second spotted sunfish looks like it has a little bluegill in its dna .

Those spotted are cool looking fish first time I seen, Gill. Your spinner lures are knocking 'em silly. Are those home made or where can I get similar one to try? My trout magnets and micro cranks are getting long in the tooth. Congrats on the 2 nice reels!

    Thanks
I’ve been getting them off Amazon .
    Amazon.com
I got to warn you , they are tiny and I buy the size 14 hook ones . The others are smaller.
I think they’re actually made for fly fishing.
I tried making my own but can’t get them just right yet . I used two swivels and split rings hoping I could make one that was a little bit heavier.

Glad things went smooth for you. Some pretty fish, especially the redbreast. They always try to steal my rod. I’m kinda surprised that the Presso wasn’t a hands down winner, although it is a bit fresher than the Soare. Had a class today but I’ll go tomorrow morning early. Hope to find a few, we’ll see.

    Just ordered some spinners.

After I got back home today , I transferred the Daiwa J Braid from my Soare XR and my Presso over to a couple of Daiwa Legalis LT 1000s and spooled them up with 2# test P-line Floroclear .
First cast in the driveway went almost ten feet farther than the braid .
Guess I’ll be setting my drag a little lighter.
