Nothing wrong with St Croix rods . As they say , “ The Best Rods on Earth “ .
They make some fine equipment.
The only JDM rods I like as much is the Abu Garcia Mass Beat 3 rods . I bought two of them from JDM tackle Heaven . Their prices are good , and they ship pretty quick , but you pay full price shipping. I think it was around $40 shipping.
I bought a few Daiwa Trout X rods from Digitaka . They were reasonably priced which included shipping. But I don’t like them as much as my SC rods .

Like TX said, a very well regarded rod. Don’t know of anyone disappointed with theirs. Deepfry has two. IMHO, the reputation of the rod and the price make it a no brainer. And you’re no cheapskate either or you wouldn’t entertain conversation about this stuff. I know how to build a pretty good rod and borrow some of the JDM styles doing it. It also helps that Mudhole Supply is a twenty minute drive. I save a few bucks and fool with new rods pretty regular, just bought a Pfenix blank today. There’s lots of good equipment out there and we share a passion for the fish and the gear. Better info I haven’t found.

I have the rod in both UL and SUL post #2 of this thread shows the bending curve on the two rods compared to each other with 2 to 4 oz of weight.

They are nice rods.
