Good job. I’ve tried braid several times and always go back to mono. Keep thinking I need to be using braid but just prefer mono.
As most you know I’ve tried several brands of braid without finding one that showed me any advantage. Mainly distance with light lures .
Well , today I may have found one .
It’s made by KastKing, I think it’s a new . It’s called Destron Super Braid .
6# is .11mm .
I purchased some this week and spooled some onto a Daiwa Legalis LT 1000s and paired it with a 6’ Daiwa Trout X XUL rod .
My lure was a size 12 streamer hook with a 4.0mm tungsten bead with a trout magnet body to begin with , but later I switched to a Bobby Garland Itty Bit Swim’r .
I was surprised at how far I could cast the tiny bait . I believe it’s farther than I was getting with my 2# Floroclear.
Sensitivity went up . I could feel every little nip and when a little gill grabbed it , I thought it was a lot bigger than it turned out to be . .
I experienced zero wind knots or issues with this braid .
After a few fish , I switched rods and put the braid on my 5’ St Croix Avid ULF and got the same distance I was getting with the 6’ rod .
I finished fishing the morning with the Avid with the braid .
The little fish drove me crazy as I could feel a lot of nips that I wouldn’t have with the Floroclear.
I did experience more fish coming off than I usually do , but that could be just a bad day of hookups . A lot of them were small crappie and the braid may have contributed to their early release .
I’ll keep experimenting with it
I used a 6’ leader of 4# Floroclear.
Best fighter was the little shellcracker.

I've always been a mono user. Have been tempted to try braid on my spinning reels a time or two but don't feel like dealing with leaders on those reels.

Nice catches. Braid at 0.11 will break at 10 pounds. I’ll use it when popping a D2 jig in the White River for trout. Had many folks fish with me wanting to know why I was catching 5 to their one. With mono doing that you miss far too many fish. You can’t get a hook in them with all that stretch you have in mono. And when I get my boat I’ll most likely have a rod set up to pull bluegill and shell cracker out of the lily pads at Bald Knob. I don’t like braid but need different lines for different situations.

I don’t like braid either , but I do need something stronger that will still give me good casting distance.
I was surprised how good this stuff cast .
I think I should have given the Daiwa braid a longer trial .
I don’t think I ever really fished it , I just tried casting it in the driveway .
I think the braid reacts differently when wet .
I’m more concerned with castability than I am breaking strength as long as it’s rated more than 4# .

Great info. Give X9 braid a try as well. X9 braid 6lb is only .08mm yet is rated to break at 17lbs. I use it for trout and have full confidence in it.
I'll check out the kastking braid, although it's slightly larger in diameter than X9 braid it might be slicker?

Glad you’re finding one you get along with. Not everyone may agree but I have a few thoughts on braid. First, I like it for several reasons, and I’ve spoken all of those a few times. But mostly, new braid and braid that’s been used about ten trips is very different IMHO. The coating that is put on it is flexed enough times and it softens and has a better personality. That’s when it starts casting real nice and stops falling off the spool. So my point is that if you decide to try braid, make a commitment to run it for a month of active fishing before you tear it off and put it aside. I’ll also say that wind knots just come with the territory and there’s some checks that you’ll have to build into your style that don’t exist with mono. I love it when you get a hit and lift your wrist to set the hook at almost full cast distance and then the drag sounds off. My drag is usually set a little light but not wimpy, you can always add a couple of clicks. You can tell I like it and a lot of my rods have it, both fresh and salt.
