As most you know I’ve tried several brands of braid without finding one that showed me any advantage. Mainly distance with light lures .
Well , today I may have found one .
It’s made by KastKing, I think it’s a new . It’s called Destron Super Braid .
6# is .11mm .
I purchased some this week and spooled some onto a Daiwa Legalis LT 1000s and paired it with a 6’ Daiwa Trout X XUL rod .
My lure was a size 12 streamer hook with a 4.0mm tungsten bead with a trout magnet body to begin with , but later I switched to a Bobby Garland Itty Bit Swim’r .
I was surprised at how far I could cast the tiny bait . I believe it’s farther than I was getting with my 2# Floroclear.
Sensitivity went up . I could feel every little nip and when a little gill grabbed it , I thought it was a lot bigger than it turned out to be .
.
I experienced zero wind knots or issues with this braid .
After a few fish , I switched rods and put the braid on my 5’ St Croix Avid ULF and got the same distance I was getting with the 6’ rod .
I finished fishing the morning with the Avid with the braid .
The little fish drove me crazy as I could feel a lot of nips that I wouldn’t have with the Floroclear.
I did experience more fish coming off than I usually do , but that could be just a bad day of hookups . A lot of them were small crappie and the braid may have contributed to their early release .
I’ll keep experimenting with it
I used a 6’ leader of 4# Floroclear.
Best fighter was the little shellcracker.
