For nylon line I use Varivas Twitch Master Very Low Stretch in 3# test...I use several types of braid from Varivas and for most of my panfishing I use Varivas ES2 Lemoni Ester line in 2.3# test. Ester line is a bear to manage but the rewards are worth it.

What would you recommend for all around panfishing, that is not a bear to manage? UL rod and spinning reel.

Even a Legalis 1000 size reel has a line capacity of 4lb test at 250 yards. The line you have recommended comes in 100m spools. Do you put a backing on?

I don't use backing. All of my reels come out of Japan and are shallow spool reels....so the reel will only hold 100 meters. What you just mentioned is why I went to all shallow spool reels.

You can get SLP works shallow spools for Diawa Reels they even come in a Diawa box. I have a couple for the Legalis. I got them from ali express. It took 3 to 4 weeks to get them delivered. Despite what the link says the 1000 series spools work just fine on a 2000 series reel.

I also have the SLP spools for the 21 Diawa Presso reels that I recently got. With the price of the Presso it allows me to just change the type of line I'm using without changing reels depending on conditions and what type of fishing I'm doing.

The regal is a little different than the others. It has 2 bearing for the spool, to use a SLP spool you have to remove one of them and I think you need the black spool. It makes it a little more difficult than just swapping the spool over. I have one american regal and haven't bothered to swap the spool.

You know , every time I start thinking about ordering shallow spools for my reels that don’t have them …………
I get to adding up the cost ………….
    And I think , I could put that money toward a Shimano 21 SOARE XR C2000SSPG .
