Getting it done
My thoughts were rods with a big Fuji style stripper guide would give line the least amount of resistance. But I also thought a shorter rod with big guides would be a long caster .
Fewer guides , less resistance.
This afternoon I strung up an older model 7’ Daiwa Procyon ULF rod with 2# Floroclear on a Daiwa Fuego LT 1000d and tied on a 1/64 Trout Magnet jig and TM body .
Measured distance was 64’+ . And it did it several times.
I’ve got a couple other seven footers with Fuji ceramic guides that need to try .
I think 64’ with a 1/64 ounce jig is unbelievable, imagine what a 1/32 jig will do . I may have to try , but I’m running out of open driveway space . I may have to trim a few limbs hanging over the driveway.

Some years ago I entered a distance casting competition in North Cacalackie. Hairy legged men standing around on a turf farm, seeing who could cast a sinker the furthest. My 5 ounce sinker went 705 feet.
I think your cast is amazing.
Maybe they will bite this one……gillchaser999 LIKED above post
North Cacalackie? What an interesting name….in Florida?

Way to go. That makes my 46 foot efforts with my three rods seem miniscule. I guess I need to practice more. I still have plenty of driveway left.

And out theories get blown up yet again. I’ve been going to the salt for a couple of weeks and casting with those size plugs has me spoiled. That’s a long cast.

Those are great results but without testing different types of lines and line diameters your test on guide comparison is still incomplete. Different types of guides, numbers of guides and guide layouts are used for different types of line. The variables are just too many to draw conclusions from your test.
Braided lines vary greatly but its generally regarded among rod builders micro guides benefit braided line and increase casting distance when compared to larger guides. Better explained here:
What You Need to Know About Rod Guides - On The Water
Generally among rod builders including Fuji it's accepted micro guides increase casting distance when using braided lines since braided line doesn't have memory issues just as I posted earlier.
I tested a couple rods last winter with X9 6lb braid and 1/32 oz jighead. I misplaced my notes but do recall my 7ft 1" YB TZ/Nano rod with micro guides was easily outcasting an Okuma 8ft Pro Guide rod with larger guides with the same jighead, reel and line. I used a green foam knee pad (pictured in the distance) to mark the landing spot so the laser rangefinder could obtain a reading.
I have used PLine Floroclear 4lb in the past but gave it up long ago in favor of braid.

MtnFisher, I’ve tried braid and never found one I liked . I tried Power Pro, Daiwa J-braid X-8, Daiwa J-Braid X-8 Grand , and a couple KastKing braids that were supposed to be their best . Didn’t care for any of them . Wasted about $100 .
As far as Floroclear I have 2, 3, and 4# . I like the casting distance and challenge of using the 2# Floroclear.
Most folks are afraid of losing a fish on light line . I’m not . I haven’t had one break me off yet . I’ve had them wrap me up on snags and bury in moss resulting in my losing a fish . And had a couple of knots fail . That’s just part of the game I choose to play .
By using the same line on every rod and reel combo I test , it keeps everything on an even challenge.
If I were to switch to braid , I’d have to use the same reel with every rod I tested to get accurate findings .
I’m glad others are exploring and experimenting with their equipment and posting what they find . I think and hope this helps others in choosing the tackle they want use to chase whatever fish they’re after .
I’d like to see your results if you can find them .

Chaser, I wish we were closer so I could put my rods in your hands. May not change your mind but I’d be interested in those results.
