    Default Short thirty minute trip

With the threat of more thunderstorms today , I wanted to give my second purchase of a KastKing Kestrel SFS reel another chance to prove itself .
I paired it up with a 5’5” Daiwa AJing UL rod and headed to the town pond with a small spinner on the business end of my two pound test Floroclear.
It didn’t take long to catch my first and biggest of the trip bluegill .
    I caught five total .
But the Kestrel didn’t stop its bumping at the top and bottom of the spool cycle , so it’ll be headed back .
I’m sitting here trying to decide whether to send the other one back . I’ve lost confidence in them . I don’t want to keep it and it start acting up after my thirty day return window .
It’s a super lightweight and smooth reel .
Too bad the QC isn’t there .

Hate to hear that. I think I’d send them back. Nice catch

I think I ordered a good replacement this afternoon.
Digitaka sent me an email yesterday that the Shimano Soare XR 500SPG was back in stock .
Although it’s probably going to take me weeks to get my refund, I thought about the Soare and when I checked Digitaka only had one left in stock .
I couldn’t help myself , as quickly as I could it was in my cart and I was making payment.
I wanted a super light reel and have been looking at the XR , trying to decide between a Vanford 500 and the Soare 500 XR .
    I hope I get a good one .

I think that’s a good choice for the replacement. Sorry to hear about the Kestral, they had my attention and I was considering the idea of owning one. Sounds like maybe a bad spot on the locomotive gear. The XR snuck by me, didn’t know they’d come back in stock. Lucky man.

    Gillchaser999,
A friend has been using the piscifun carbon x.500 size.
I'm a daiwa fan, the sub 100.00 reels have really impressed me.
The 1000 size has been good to me.
I'm a creature of habit, with the low water I'm fishing, I'm fishing in my float tube more, cant launch the boat.
The mag seal seems like a insurance policy.
The carbon x is holding up in the saltwater as well.
He lives on the beach, catching fish in the surf.

Thought I would pass it along!!!
Thank you, for all the great posts.

Sorry to hear about your dissatisfaction with the Kestrel. I have a Zephyr and haven't noticed a problem such as you are having. Mine is smooth as silk with no bumps. Maybe I just got lucky but I guess I will hang on to it.

I’m hoping the replacement fits the bill. I’m liking my BB and wondering if there’s anything else in my future. I may be set for a while.

I’m pleased with my Shimano Soare XR500spg . The handle is a little short but I’m adapting to it. Used it today .
