    Default Weekly meetup 6-20-23

We caught a break in the rain rotation and met up at West Point Reservoir.
The lake was up , a lot of our favorite spots were stained to muddy with all kinds of junk floating around . It would have been tough to take a boat out right now , logs and debris everywhere.
I thought with the water being up , the fishing would be great . Not so.
We struggled to catch some small fish .
But it was a fun day of casting.
I caught a total of twenty fish , my buddy caught eight . I was expecting around fifty .
Most were caught on a small spinner except for the only bass I managed to land that bit a Trout Magnet .
The surprise fish today , we caught three yellow perch between us .
Favorite rod combo today was a 5’ Rosewood UL paired with a Shimano Sahara 500 FJ and two pound Floroclear.
Hope you enjoy the pics .
I included the last fish because of its unusual shape . I thought it looked cool .

Nice variety of fish, I don't run into many yellow perch in the lakes around here.

We usually don’t either . And it’s usually during cooler water temps . The water temps are in the 80’s around here already .

Glad you got some to make the day. The rod looks nice and if it’s like my 5’ it’s a real sweetheart. Salt for me tomorrow for the first time in a long time.

Gillchaser, it's been a while since someone posted a perch caught! It's still nice to have caught something. I'm planning a trip to SoCal lake before June ends and hope to catch something to post.

Skeetbum, I've missed fishing off pier as of late as well. Hope you'll post some catches and take us along.

LV, my expectations are high. 2020 was very good to me and I have the day off so I wanted to beat the weekenders to the fish. I usually have to deal with the guys with the big money boats and attitude, this will be a treat. I promise, pics when I score.

What are you targeting? Offshore or inshore?
