Default Abu Garcia Revo SP Beast 1000S OTW

After reading Randy’s review and watching his video on the Revo SP Beast , I order a 1000s a few minutes ago.
I had a return that gave me some gift card cash to spend which knocked my final price down to $102 shipped .
The weight as Randy explained in his video isn’t anything like a Daiwa Presso , but it’s the same weight as my Daiwa Fuego 1000LT that I love using .
Figured my favorite rod , the 6’ 3” Abu Garcia Mass Beat III needed an Abu Garcia reel to go on it .

Pretty good deal on that reel. I was out earlier in the shop playing around with the Beast. I tell you Abu is really working hard to come out with products to compete with Daiwa and Shimano. Neither Daiwa or Shimano have anything close to it in that price range for that quality. Big congrats!

I agree, bought 2 of the 2000S models, they aren't any heavier than the Diawa Legalis or regals I was using on some of my rods.
There is a world of difference when it comes to play in the handle between them. The diawa legalis, regal, and revros all have play in the handle. Even the Abu Garcia Revo ALX has some play. The MGX Theata and the Beast SP don't have that play in the handle.

With my Daiwas and Shimanos , on some of them the knob on the handles have more play than others .
Even with my Daiwa Fuego LT 1000’s the play of the knob varies from reel to reel .
I never noticed this until I started using a twitch retrieve.
Doesn’t really bother me , but it is noticeable.

    Edit :
One other thing , I hope the Beast looks better in person . Daiwa and Shimano build some beautiful reels .

With the new reel on order , I got to searching around and found some other models of the Abu Garcia Mass Beat 3 on JDM Tackle Heaven.
The shipping is about half what a rod costs . First rod ships UPS is about $40 . If I order a second one , I can get both shipped for $60 .
I ordered the 6’3” UL and the 6’ UL .
I’ve been fishing some of my shorter rods lately and they just don’t feel right after fishing rods between 6’ and 6’6” . Seven footers don’t feel right either , unless I’m fishing a bobber rig .
Two new Abu Garcia MB 3’s OTW .
We’ll see which gets here first .
    The reel shipped today .

I’m with you on the mid length rods. I am glad I had my shorter rods when I was fishing close quarters on the Duck River but do not like them on open waters.

I’m thinking it would be fun to come pick through what you don't use. You’ll have a nice stable of good equipment. I’ve got a 6’6” build to get wet this weekend. I’m also liking the 6’ build I just finished but can’t get away from the shorter ones. Old habits die hard.

I think I’d be ok with my shorter rods fishing out of my boat .
