    Default UL setup

Went ahead and bought a Shimano Miravel c2000s reel to go on my St Croix Avid Panfish 6’9” UL. Really looking forward to using it as my last UL setup fell off my kayak a couple years ago. Well it didn’t fall off I just wasn’t paying attention and laid it on top of the water and away it went. Never could find it.

It’s humorous but not funny to lose a favorite rod that way. Hope this new one works out for you. I’m having a hard time wrapping my head around a 2000 size reel being ultralight but it’s common these days. And I used to like 1500 sized reels and I don’t see them offered anymore. Looking forward to hearing of your travels.

I’ll let y’all know how it fishes. The model reel I have coming is a 2000 compact size with a shallow reel. I don’t know enough to tell anyone if this reel is a souped up model of a 1000 reel or not. I didn’t see any braid at the marina to use with that reel. Probably should have ordered some with the reel

The reel has a 1000 series body with a 2000 series size spool...the gear ratios for both reels are the same. All Shimano and Daiwa reels in the 1000 and 2000 series have the exact same body....just different spools. The reel body size doesn't change until you move up to the 2500 size.

I took inventory last night and have a dozen rods for longlinning that have Daiwa or Shimano 2000 size reels on them. Found two more of each still in the box unused. I may have too much fishing gear. Well archery as well. I’ve got over six thousand full length feathers and enough wood arrow shafts to use most of them up. I’m getting too old to have so much stuff.

I know the feeling of too much stuff. I’ve thinned down a lot of stuff that just takes up space and doesn’t get used.

Nice to see a fellow traditional archer on here. I shoot longbows and wood arrows myself. I don't have near your inventory of archery or fishing equipment. But I thoroughly enjoy both pursuits with the equipment I have.
