Post What are your best/must have JDM accessories?

I feel like I havent seen much discussion on JDM accessories for ultralight fishing.

I was looking on Digitaka and debating on getting some of their tackle boxes, ikejime kit, rod glow sticks, pliers, rod holders, net release rings, terminal tackle etc.

Example: I need a quality mini tackle box to fit in my vest. I find the tackle boxes in North America are extremely cheap plastic with terrible locks.

Is there a huge difference in JDM quality for accessories like tackle boxes, pliers, swivels, etc or any cool neat accessories that they only have in Japan and not here in America?

I have ordered very few accessories. I had a pro deal with Digitaka for a very short time. One of the items they sent was aluminum fishing pliers. Top notch quality. I also bought a Bouz drag checker…made in Japan and as you might imagine it is a quality made item. I have used JDM swivels…hooks….jig heads…all high quality gear. I have never used any of the lure boxes or wallets. I know a few who have purchased the stand up rod holders for bank fishing and they tell me it is high quality. I have been using Gruv micro jig boxes for a while now and they make quality boxes…..but they do not have latches…they close with magnets. Let us know if you try some boxes.

    Regards

I have a couple of jig boxes that do a good job. I’ll take pics later for you.

After seeing your post I decided to do some research. I have always wanted to try some of their light game boxes and so on. After a lot of reading and watching YouTube videos out of Australia I ordered 100 bucks worth of Meiho boxes out of Japan. I ordered a pretty good assortment and will let you know how they are when I get them.

I have some of the meiho stuff. Not bad stuff. I have a bunch of crap in my cart right now. Trying to find a box for pompano jigs with the slit foam. The jigs are like goofy jigs and 3/8 oz so the smaller meiho box I have won’t handle them. I’m always looking at crazy stuff. Lol. Any swivels you recommend?

Haven't had a need for swivels. The only spinners I have are the Niakis...and they have the built in swivel.

Meiho boxes are very nice. I prefer them over Plano boxes. You don't have to order them from Japan as there is a US distributor.

This is true…but…like many Japanese manufacturers that open up shop in the states it is usually not the same selection as to what is sold on the Japanese market. I found several items I wanted were not being sold on the US website. Major Craft is another one who does this also.

Thank you Randy for those recommendations. I will order some different boxes also and try them out and let you guys know what i think of them. Looking forward in hearing your review of those meiho boxes.

Those pliers you were mentioning, what are they called? Might grab a pair.

Also do you think the JDM bait scents work better then the american ones? I cant imagine bait scent to be higher quality haha
