I have watched some of the Japanese fisherman sling some small baits a good ways with casting gear.
I found a 5’6” UL Abu Garcia at a good price at JDM Tackle Heaven and ordered it .
Took about three days before I received notice it had shipped, but got it in a couple of days .
Pretty quick service .
Only problem , I messed up and ordered the wrong rod .
I thought I’d ordered a spinning rod , but received a 5’6” UL casting rod .
Guess it’s time for me to get out my KastKing BFS reel and put it to use throwing some of those spinners I’ve been building lately .

The love for fishing is one of the best gifts you can pass along
That’s true…but those reels are true BFS reels with some souped up bearings….and they ain’t cheap. But as the saying goes you get what you pay for. I’m in process of going down the BFS road for these trout out here. Haven’t decided on a reel yet and while years ago all I used was bait casters it has been a long time.

A cheap one . LOL !
It’s the Mass Beat III .
I like the 6’3” MB travel rod and was looking for 5’6” UL spinning in the same.
Tossed a 1/16 spinner a few times in the driveway before dark .
Cast pretty good . Going make a fun little outfit to play around with.
Something a little different.
I’ve always considered baitcasting to be best at spinners , spinnerbaits , and crankbaits . Probably work good for spoons too .
I own a couple Daiwa baitcasting reels that seem to cast 1/16 and up lures pretty good too .
My biggest issue is small diameter line getting in between the spool and frame on all of my BC’s .

While I’ve never owned one it is my understanding they are good rods. The Japanese will sell some inexpensive gear but it will have to have a certain level of quality or they don’t sell it in their market.

Best wishes with it, gill. You may be on the BFS road sooner than you wanted!

Yikes! But, bfs should be good fun even though not how you may have envisioning getting into it.
I was wondering a bfs reel would be real good for taking accurate casts while stream fishing for trout. Sure helps when one can feather the spool. Some do the Japanese trout stream angles use it with deadly accuracy.
Still not taken the bfs plunge. I have a few North Fork Composite blanks. Will use one of them to make a bfs rod when I’m ready to take the plunge. Currently I’m waiting for my Matagi blanks and Fuji AT titanium guides (set weighs 1 gram) to arrive. I got a solid tip and tubular (both XUL). Should be interesting builds and fun to fish with ester during the crappie and bluegill spawn. Also, the Presso Air AGS. I think I’ll struggle with rod choice paralysis come spring.

Ah yes, yet another rabbit hole to flop around in. I have some interest in the bfs thing but that’s as far as it’s gotten. I’ve watched some of the Japanese guys and I’m really impressed with their skills. I’m not sure I was ever that good with any BC I’ve had, and I’ve had a few. Have fun with it and keep us posted.
