Thanks for the report on the rods
Today I received my 6’ four piece Daiwa Iprimi XUL travel rod and my Abu Garcia MBS-634L III Area Trout Rod, Spinning Mass Beat III travel rod .
After removing the packaging and putting the rods together for a wiggle test , the Abu Garcia Mass Beat III light wins out of the two .
First impressions, the Iprimi is a six foot log noodle . I was expecting it to have a little more backbone , being a XUL and being a four piece rod , but nope . The case is a cheap looking thin soft cast case . Not impressed!
The Mass Beat is a better looking rod and has the feel I expected in the Iprimi .
I paired it with a Shimano Symetre 500 reel and strung up the eyes and did a bend test .
Supposed to be a light power , fast action , I would call it more an UL power and a moderate fast action . The bend is 2/3rds down the rod when pulling on the line .
Although it was a cheaper, rod , the rod looks better than the Iprimi and the case is a semi hard travel case . The case is similar to the one that comes with a Daiwa Presso travel rod, if you’re familiar with the Presso.
I’ll post pics when I can get them out for a proper sliming .

Any Iprimi rod you get will be a noodle. To tell you the truth not sure why they still make them. Not sure how old the series is but it is quite old.

Thanks for the update, Gillchaser. I was looking forward to your assessment of the Iprimi and was kind of hoping it would be a little stiffer than the XXUL. I’d be curious as to how you find it handles side by side. Like I said, I really enjoy the XXUL with micro spoons for the stocked trout, but with the water levels so low here in Chesapeake, the state hasn’t stocked any this year and I’ve got a bunch of new spoons to try out!
