I dragged out my Quantum 5’ Ultra Light the other day to play with the stocked trout in the pond at my local park. I noticed that the line has taken quite the set. The last 1# line I bought was at a little Mom & Pop shop that no longer exists. Any suggestions? I normally cast tiny Roostertails. Took two rainbows despite the curly line.

I've looked at the Varvas website and found some 1.4 pound line but am not familiar with the different models they have. I wish I could remember what brand of fluorocarbon I have as it has worked well for more than a few years.
Hello Clint,
Here's a list of several models of VARIVAS ultralight lines close to 1 lb. We have additional models, but I recommend starting with these. VARIVAS line breaks very close to absolute/true break strength. A nice group of folks on this forum are familiar with these.
Blue Moon fluorocarbon (down to 1.5 lb)
Area Super Trout Master Limited premium fluorocarbon (down to 1.2 lb)
fluoro Trout Shock Leader (down to 2 lb)
Area Super Trout Master Limited SVG Nylon mono (down to 1.2 lb)
Mebaru Gate nylon mono (down to 2 lb)
ES2 Esterline (polyester) (down to 1.2 lb)
Let me know if you have any questions.

I've had good success with Maxima Ultragreen in 1# test fishing for spooky trout but use Maxima in 2# or 3# most of the time. Maxima has more stretch and is a little more forgiving than the Varivas lines I've tried but for casting distance Varivas is better.
