LV,
I have not used any spoons with the RF. I find the sweet spot on that rod to be a 1 gram jighead which is what I throw the vast majority of the time. I know you guys like throwing spoons on rods with quite a bit of flex as do the Japanese apparently but I myself prefer a little more backbone to my spoon throwing rods but I also do not own any Japanese spoons yet and mostly throw 1/4oz spoons for larger trout. RF is a sweet rod for throwing small offerings and twitching like Randy and I like to do. I hope this helps

I have a IC 7’4” tubular tip (power) and use it for deep water lake trout fishing. I have had several solid carbon tip rods but the tips have not been durable at all. I do use heavier jigs than what is rated but never had a problem with tubular tips. I think the main reason is how the super carbon tip is inserted into the end of the tubular portion, just another link in the chain. I have had several pull out and then just recemented the tip back in. I don’t watch the tip for bites just the hi vis braid twitch which works well with the tubular tip.
Rod came back in stock, I ordered it yesterday. Won't be trying it until spring.
