Default New Carabus rod and Zenon reel on the way.

Last week I was able to fish 3 days for trout. The trout are sure plentiful but are being finicky right now. You will have multiple fish chase your lure but may not bite at all...or they will nose the lure....or they will mouth the lure and are swimming with you and you feel nothing. Fishing gin clear water.....where you can see a fish 8 feet deep....is not only an exciting way to fish but is very educational...and can also be very frustrating. But I learned enough to know that in the fishing conditions I have been encountering call for an extremely fast...extremely sensitive rod....and forget using a nylon mono. You will catch fish with the mono but your catch rate will double with braid. I had on loan an Abu Garcia Carabus 66 L rated rod. A gentleman from Washington state brought it down when he picked up my boat...now his boat...LOL, and insisted I keep it and try it out for a few months. Very kind of him to do so as it is a 400 dollar rod. Not sure I would be so kind...LOL. Well it only took me one time out with the rod to know I wanted one just like it...so it is on the way. This rod is the European version of the Diplomat Extreme out of Japan....but the model out of Japan has been sold out and is no longer made. So mine is coming in from Spain. I no longer own any high end Ajing rods....which would fit the bill for this type of fishing conditions nicely. When you buy rods like I do you have to sell rods along the way to keep the hobby going. Back in TN you don't encounter these conditions….meaning we don't have water this clear to see how the fish are behaving. I also got to fish this rod on rising water, in a shoal using a 2.8 gram MIU abalone Forest spoon with the Varivas Infinity PE in 5.4# test line. On the swing I had a 17 inch rainbow hit the spoon and what a hit and battle it was. So, I have on the way a new Abu Garcia Carabus 6’ 6” L Area Trout Rod…and a new Abu Garcia Zenon 1000S reel….which weigh in at 4.9 ounces. The dollar to yen is at a great rate for us right now for sure...now is the time to buy out of Japan. Unfortunately for me I have been sidelined with a bad sinus infection and unable to get on the water lately. But I will be back in a matter of days. All I gotta do is check on the build of the new house and fish.....things are going well. Life is good!

Very nice gear Randy. Love the look of the handle on the rod. Looks chunky enough to fill my big hand and light enough to be right for the weight.
