    Default Rod Suggestion

Looking to expand beyond my Lunakia 610 and Abu Eradicator 67SULT to something that can handle a little bigger fish. Lots of angry smallmouth and largemouth where I'm at.

I'm looking for suggestions on a rod that will get me to 6lb test or around PE 0.8/PE 1. Most of what I've been finding forces you over 7.5' to achieve that goal, and I'd like to stay below that if I can. I fish mainly plastic swimbaits and jigs. If the low end of the lure rating could start around or below 1.5g that would be great.

Anyone using something like this that they like and would suggest?

If you want to stick with JDM, the Major Craft Triple Cross T682AJI(tubular model) would be a big step up in backbone and can throw .6g to 10g. It's also a great dock shooter. Recommended lines are 5 lb. and .6PE, but it will handle a step above that. Otherwise, just get an American market medium light extra fast. It's what they're designed for. St. Croix Victory and 13 Fishing Black Omen both come in 6'10" models. Omen has a 6'7" model, too. They will throw 1.5g just fine and no worries about line size.

The Majorcraft Triple Cross TCX-T682 AJI or TCX-T732AJI would do what you are asking. I fish jigs up to 1/8oz for large stream trout on TCX-T732AJI and its been great. Other choices would be one of the Megabass Orrochi or Levante spinning rod offerings. I have a Megabass Orochii F3 Jade Python which is designed for finesse bass fishing but also makes an excellent jigging rod for large trout. It's also offered in lighter models F1 & F2. The Yamaga Blanks Blue Current TZ/Nano 77 Stream Special would work, I have its lighter brother the TZ71 Nano and it's been stellar for average trout but I need to fish it more to see how it performs with larger fish.

Well maybe! I've got two med action Ugly Stick casting rods set up with two kastking low profile reels and 4# line. They work great with 1/4oz jigs on them. Seem's early on I tried some 1/8th oz jigs and found I could cast them far enough to fish for crappie but my ultra light spinning rods work better there! The reels are bottom end reel and nice thing about them is they just work well. I did not get what I paid for, I think I got more than I paid for! have used one on some on small mouth bass and worked fine but set them up thinking just bullhead cats, for which they are super! Don't know how they would work on large mouth, suppose it would depend on how big they were. Probably be a good idea to go with heavier line also!

Forgot. Don't have a clue how much 1.5g is in onces!
