    Default Casting lightweight lures?

OK , I am a moron, How does everyone cast such light lures, I have used mono down to 2lb and braid lower than that in diameter. Small spinning reels , medium sized ones, short rods, long rods, different actions and I still cannot get much distance, any tips or tricks?

    Thanks

First what 2# test line are you using? I would bet it is not a true 2# test line…meaning a diameter of 0.128mm or less. The line you use will play a huge part in how much distance you can get..or not get. I use a polyester line that has a diameter of 0.090mm. The braid I use has a diameter of 0.070mm. I get great casting distance with rods from 4 foot long up to 6’ 10”.
Most US market 2# test lines will really be 4# test line with a diameter of around 0.165mm. You want to cast micro jigs a good distance get some good line. I’ve had a ton of people come up to me and ask how I can cast tiny jigs as far as I do with short rods…I tell them it is all in the line.

    Regards

They make clear casting bubbles that you fill with water to get some distance.

Do you use a fluorocarbon leader? And if so how long?

When fishing for trout I always use an FC leader. If fishing a mono line the leader will be about 2 feet. When fishing braid the leader will be about 4-5 feet....which is a shock leader.

If you can’t get more than 15 feet, something is REALLY wrong with your set up. I can hit 15’ with a cane pole. LOL

Maybe if you posted your typical outfit (rod/reel/line/jig weight) and measured a cast, we could help more.
